About me

Omid is a Los Angeles-based Photographer and filmmaker. He began his journey as a filmmaker through photography. He gradually became infatuated with photographing people in daily ordinary settings. He was influenced by the portraitist movement in photography because of its resemblance to cinematography.

Growing up in Iran and Europe, he was deeply influenced by photographers such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Yosef Karsh, Peter Lindbergh and Richard Avedon, The classic portrait and fashion photographers who were well-known because of composition, color and portraits.

He pursued his a BFA in Film at California College of the Arts (CCA) in San Francisco.  His films are mostly inspired by Persian poetry.

"Every time I take a walk, I absorb the visual elements around me, capturing them like a camera and transforming them into a story. My eyes help me interpret my surroundings, like a camera creates the frame for a photo. My reality through my eyes has a cinematic quality to it; that helps me to transform reality to the movie project." Omid.
